Jody, Maureen, Michelle, and Jim Reilly
Dear Family and Friends,
Well, just about the time you were wondering what I was going to try next, I've decided! I will be running the Nike Women's Marathon on October 17th to honor my father, Jody. As you may or may not know, I am exactly like my father. And if you knew him, you know that he liked to try new and different things. Well, a full marathon is new for me, but so exciting to look forward to! I always go big, so I chose to run in San Francisco, a beautiful city we visited together with my mother and brother. I am hoping this is the first of many.
This event is sponsored by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which raises money for research, financial aid, and treatment in the fight against leukemia and other blood related diseases. So far, they have raised over $900 million dollars.
What you should know is that Jody Reilly AND his sister, my aunt Linda Moyher, both died of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. This disease needs to be stopped and I am doing my part to help. Every 10 minutes, someone dies of a blood-related cancer, and Leukemia is the number one killer of children. I have joined Team in Training (www.teamintraining.org) to help support of the LLS mission.
As I face the challenges training for a marathon can bring, I think of the challenge a leukemia patient faces. I think of my father every day and now I think of the many others just like him who still need the treatment and care funded by the LLS.
Team in Training will be giving me the training and support to complete the race, now I need your help!
My goal is to raise $4000 by September 1 through participation in this event. Your donation today will make a difference to the thousands of people who still need your support.
How can you help? It’s easy!
on my jersey for a donation of $1000 or more.
My goals are twofold. First, to cross the finish line. Secondly, to raise $4000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. If you are so inspired to help with this wonderful cause of finding a cure, please make a donation to help me reach my fundraising goal of $4000. Remember all donations are 100% tax deductible and since 90% of the funds raised go to research and patient support, you will be making a huge difference and possibly contributing to a cure.
It is possible to make a difference this year! No matter how large or small, anything you can give to help me cross the finish line will be one step closer to a cure for blood-related cancers. I hope you will be cheering for me over the next few months as I take on this tremendous challenge. Together you and I can change lives…one mile at a time!
Thank you so much!
Love,
Michelle
