Hard to believe that after 5 months of wondering if this would be possible, it’s over! What a wonderful feeling it is too, and I have each and every one of you to thank for it. The many weeks of training, prayers and fundraising paid off for a very successful and rewarding journey indeed. As we crossed the finish line, 26.2 miles and 6 hours and 45 minutes later, I thought of all those who have survived, are fighting or have lost the battle to this devastating disease! Competing in and completing this marathon was a very emotional experience which I doubt I will ever experience again. (My legs and feet will be glad to hear that!!)

Our small team from Connecticut, just 8 participants, has raised over $50,000 for the fight against Leukemia and Lymphoma as a result of this single event. Personally, I owe tremendous thanks to all of you for helping me reach and surpass my goal….you have helped me to raise over $7,000!! I cannot express how wonderful that feels.

The entire Dublin Team in Training consisted of 158 marathon participants from all across the US and collectively raised over $900,000. The experience of being part of this team is beyond words. As we prepared for the marathon, we heard many accounts of strength, courage and survival in the fight against this disease. All these stories shared one common bond; they were only possible because of the support from people like you. They were participating to make a difference. Incredible people doing amazing things.

I would like to say, just one more time, thank you so very much. If I had not had such genuine support, in so many ways, from all of you, I would have easily given up on many of those hot, humid and rainy days walking, walking and walking!! The reality of a cure for blood cancer is here and because of your help, research will continue to make this happen.
