Racing to Save Lives. Welcome to my Team in Training home page!
I am training to participate in an endurance event as a member of Team In Training (TNT), The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) leading endurance sports charity training prograning. I will be doing a hike down the Grand Canyon on May 23rd.
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with Leukemia (AML) when I was 20 years. Today, I am proud to say that I have been cancer free for over 4 years!!!
I am so excited to be participating in this event! Four years ago I had just undergone a stem cell transplant; and today, I am training to hike the Grand Canyon. It feels AMAZING to be doing this. I can't believe how far I've come since those days of treatment when getting through the day was a struggle. I'm so glad those days are over and that now I am able to do my part in fighting the war against blood cancers.
I am completing this event in the hopes that in the future no one willl ever have to battle a blood cancer again. The hardest part of cancer for me was seeing how it affected my family so I am doing this event for all the moms and dads that have had a child diagnosed with a blood cancer. Mom, this one's for you!
An estimated 957,902 people in the United States are living with, or are in remission from, leukemia, Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma or myeloma. Every four minutes, someone new is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every 10 minutes, someone dies.
Team In Training (TNT) has reached a remarkable milestone of raising over $1 billon to support blood cancer research and patient services.
