September Update!

September has flew by in a storm of cupcakes! I ran two huge cupcake fundraisers which raiser over 1200 dollars toward my fundraising goal! I've been a little bit behind with sending in my donations but they are going into the mail as we speak.

This was truely an amazing experience I never realized how many people I would meet who have been affected my these cancers. At Mercersburg Townfest I talked with people who have survived and those who have lost loved ones from Leukemia and Lymphoma. One woman spoke to us about how important the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society was in her daughters battle with cancer. It really struck home how important it is continue to raise funds.

August Update!

This summer has been CRAZY! I can't believe we are nearing the end of August and I haven't updated this sooner. This has been such an amazing expreience full of up and downs. I'm up to doing a half marathon or more on the weekends!!!

A great big THANK YOU to everyone has donated money so far. Words can't even begin to explain how much your support means to me. It is such a great motivation on those hot summer distance walks. This truely is a life changing experience!

I promise to update this more to let everyone know how I'm doing. I have some big funraisers in the work for the next two months. Cupcakes for a Cure is in motion as we speak. If you are in the Chambersburg or Harrisburg area and would like some yummy cupcakes let me know (d_horsh@yahoo.com) and I'll email the information.

Also I will be at the Mercersburg Townfest at the end of September with more yummy cupcakes and fun crafts.

Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page!

I'm training to participate in the Under Armour Baltimore Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training.

On October 10, 2009 I will be doing something I never thought possible.

Completing a full marathon!

And what other way would be better! I have the opportunity to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This part of my journey has only started 4 weeks ago and I have meet some many amazing people I couldn't even begin to doing this any other way!

As I said, this part of my journey started a little over 4 weeks ago, but really my journey toward a healthier life started around the begining of 2008. That is where I meet Leigh, a great personal trainer and an amazing friend! With her help I realy feel like I was able to turn my life around.

In the fall of that year I joined Leigh's bootcamp at the gym not knowing what to expect. After that first bootcamp I made the decision to enter my first half marathon! (That's the picture you see on my site right now. It was truely an amazing experience! Hopefully there will be plenty more pictures from the finish line in the years to come.) Since that first bootcamp I have lost over 30 lbs a pants size and gained a whole new outlook on life!

All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
