Last ride in, bikes packed...

As an update, the team completed our last/longest group training ride on Saturday, 75 miles. It was hard, especially the last 20 miles of hills, but it was over in just a few hours.
For those living with Lymphoma or Leukemia, it is not over in a few hours, or a day, or a week. Consider Jacob's determination to bring a closure to the cancer problem. Jacob sent this with his donation into a local LLS chapter.

Impressive, isn't it? I strive to achieve a tiny bit of what Jacob has accomplished. Our fundraising amounts might not be the same but he is clearly an example to be followed.

Getting close now...

June 5 is only 3 weeks away. Our training rides are up to 65 miles now (or 67 if you make a couple of wrong turns). It feels good to train well and feel the gain in strength.
My fundraising is making good progress, and with the checks I'm mailing in today it will approach $4000.
While I'm excited about the ride I'm getting more excited about the possibility of raising $5000 for LLS. Thank you to all who have contributed and thank you in advance if you're reading this and considering a contribution.

Progress in steps

Wow, 1/3 of the way there already. Thank you very much to everyone who's already contributed. There is still a long way to go.
If you would prefer to not use a credit card or submit through a website, you can mail a check payable to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and mail it to me at 6409 Chelton Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17112. I will then collect and submit these to the society. For those on the fence about the website you can rest assured it's a well run and secure website and the LLS does not dump email at you.
My training is going pretty well. All of those years being a runner has made it clear that cycling is not the same muscles, but I'm definitely getting stronger already. I'm sure I'm not the only one looking forward to longer days and warmer weather. It's coming quickly.

Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page. Yes, another one. In 2009 you may recall that I ran a half marathon and with your support we raised $2525. This year I plan to double that total and travel a whole lot further.
I'm training to participate in an century bicycle ride (that's 100 miles) as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. The LLS is not just another great cause - since 1949 the LLS has been a greatly successful cause. Many of the leading treatments for these diseases came about with the financial support of the LLS. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation. We won't make you wear a rubber bracelet, in fact you can donate anonymously. (They do provide a statement so you can share this with the IRS)
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Bookmark this page or you can easily find it using the link on www.davidgeesaman.com. Thanks (again) for your support!
