Running to save lives...
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
On February 25th, Parker had his five-year check up at Children’s Hospital and I am thrilled to let you know that all of the news was good: no cancer and no signs of long term damage from his chemotherapy. Five years ago, I imagined celebrating this day with a big party. Yet, now that we are here, a party just doesn’t seem adequate. Appropriate yes, adequate no. Even though the treatment saved his life and Parker is doing well, it was a grueling process and he has a 50% higher risk of developing cancer later in life due to exposure to radiation and chemotherapy drugs. We won the battle to save his life, now we are fighting for his future. Fortunately, we are not fighting alone.
To celebrate Parker’s survival and to honor those who are still battling or have lost their battle, I have decided to do five big events this year. So far, I have talked Mary into joining me for three of them ☺. I am calling it my “5 for 5” and I hope you will support me. My plan is to complete 5 big events this year while raising an additional $10,000 for cancer research and patient aid. Speaking of numbers, let’s talk about the amazing support you have shown in helping Mary and me raise over $50,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society over the past five years! We couldn’t do it without you. Where is that money going? In the past 10 years, the Central Ohio Chapter has raised $18.8 million, 91% of which stays right here in Central Ohio, delivering more than $16 million to local researchers and $750,000 in patient financial aid. Nationally, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has awarded more than $750 million for research. I am honored to be a part of that effort and you should be, too.
If you have any questions, you can call 740-587-7805 or e-mail annbillmac@roadrunner.com.
Thank you again for your support and the amazing difference you are making!
Sincerely,
Ann
