Racing to Save Lives
Finished in 3:36:00!
Thanks to all who contributed to the cause on my behalf! I ran for each and every one of you on the course! It was a great experience, and something I'll always remember...especially the last 4 miles...lol. Those were tough, but getting a buckeye candy at mile 25.5 was a nice boost! I think I'll run half-marathons in the future! Thanks again everyone!
It's all downhill from here... my long run two weeks ago of 22 prepared me for what I will feel like during the marathon. It was a great confidence booster. I ran 12 last weekend, and will run 8 tomorrow (Saturday, October 11). All the hard work will culminate next weekend - thanks again everyone for your support! If you like, follow me on twitter (writerHero); my timing chip will automatically update you on my progress as I pass various checkpoints in the race.
Since I was running on the east coast below (Myrtle), I figured I'd put up a pic of the west coast (Santa Monica pier). What does this have to with running? Well... I feel like I've been running all over, just not across the USA, but across Ohio, or actually, just up and down the Olentangy trail. I'm now up to 18 miles as my long run, which I made last Thursday, July 3rd. It was super humid, and I had a huge headache afterwards. Note to self, bring more water next time...:) I do feel confident though that I will be where I need to be mileage wise come this October.
Thanks again for your support, everyone! And if you see me running by your house in this hot weather and are out watering your lawn, direct your hose over my way, I'd appreciate it!
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in the Columbus Marathon, held on October 18, 2009, as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. I will be adding periodic running anecdotes and pictures of my progress as I train for the marathon. Thank you for your support!
