Biking to Save Lives Welcome to my Team In Training home page. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Wii Fit raffle. The Wii Fit was won by a former TNT participant. And, mark your calendars for Thursday October 2nd - I'm hosting a fundraiser at Wise Guys Comedy Club. Tickets are $40 for dinner and the show or $20 for just the show. Tickets need to be purchased in advance - contact me either via e-mail or on my cell 345-2488 to purchase. I'm training to participate in a 100-mile bike ride on Saturday September 20th as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. I'm raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of 3 different young women who have battled or are currently fighting this terrible disease. Eunique is a 14 year old high school student here in Syracuse who has been battling this disease for several years - and is waiting to receive a bone marrow transplant to help her win her fight; Carrie who is 21 years old and was recently diagnosed; and, my cousin Denise who has just celebrated her 5-year anniversary of being free from leukemia. Denise in particular has benefited from research funded by the Leukemia Society - she is on a drug called Gleevac and the Leukemia Society funded the research for Gleevac. The picture shown was taken on Saturday August 9th - just before the start of a 53 mile training ride. The ride was hard but not as hard as the fight one goes through when battling a disease like leukemia. Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help fund a cure! I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support! |
