Racing to Save Lives

Currently, I am fundraising for my last few dollars gift wrapping at the local malls. One of our teammates, Doug, recently came out of remission. I'm hoping to donate any extra money I make gift wrapping to his family to help support his very expensive treatments. The more money I raise here, the more money I can give to Doug!! At the beginning of August, I became a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training, whose mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. I have been training with my team members and on January 10, 2010, I will run the Disney Half Marathon in Orlando. I know that no matter how hard it is to run 13 miles, it does not even come close to the race he ran against cancer.

Every five minutes, someone in the United States learns they have leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma, and every ten minutes, a child or adult dies from one of these diseases. While more and more people are becoming survivors of these deadly diseases, there is still no cure. While I have no family members who have passed away from leukemia, I have seen other types of cancer claim their lives.

I will not be able to train for this event alone, and I would be honored if you could help me. My goal is to raise $2,400. No pledge is too small! Donations need to be received no later than December 15th, 2009. To date, the Team in Training program has raised over $750 million. I invite you to be part of my goal! There is no better feeling than knowing you were part of an amazing mission that successfully helped so many people!
