One Step Closer...

I have decided to run a marathon (26.2 miles) in honor of my brother Daniel, in memory of Quinn, Kenny and George, as well as running it for everyone who is a survivor, going through it right now, and all those who have lost their life to blood cancers.

I will also be running in honor of my sorority sisters Denisse and Christine.

Now you may ask why am I running this marathon? Why not? I never thought I would have the honor to run and raise money for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) until I actually got to witness the strength and determination of patients going through cancer.

A few of my friends have pledged to do the run with me in San Diego, CA. We will be participating in the Rock'n'Roll Marathon on May 31, 2009!

I have pledged to raise $3,900.00 by May 1, 2009. Over 75% of every dollar you donate will be used by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for research, patient services and education.

Thank you everyone who donated and helped me reach my goal! I ran the Rock'n'Roll Marathon in 6 hours! Not too bad for my first time! Thanks again for helping The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as well to help find a cure for all blood cancer! See everyone at my next marathon!

This morning I woke up and ran about 13.5 miles on the West Orange Trail. It was weird not running with my "partner in crime" but I ran with Mentor Tom and Kimberly. Dan and Eric also came up to participate in the Jacksonville Fundraiser Namie's parents help put together. At night, we arrived in Ponte Vedra Beach and Namie and I spoke to a big group about Team In Training and what we were doing besides having the oppurtunity to run a marathon. Our Personal Honorary Teammate- my brother, Daniel- gave a great speech to the crowd about what he went through and how much this great organization was able to help him along the way. Thank you to everyone who came out to the event. It was a great success!

I ran 10 miles today in Jacksonville with Namie and the Jacksonville team while going around to different businesses and trying to get donations for our Fundraising Dinner! It was a blast and I was so happy to meet new people. I can't wait to see them again in San Diego!!

Today I ran a 10K (6.2 miles) with Namie and Mike in 1:11:52. Not bad for a first timed run. Felt great afterwards and it was great having an extra push from my friends to keep running.

Today was an amazing day. My coaches set up a 7 mile course for full-marathoners and I ran 6 miles and walked 1 mile. It was a great feeling. Very accomplishing! I can't wait to do it again. This week I am going to average 6 miles a day (which is my goal). Wish me luck!! I'm so proud of everyone else on my team who did the run with me. Go Team!

I sent out all my fundraising letters and accomplished Big Bertha! It was a hard, steep course but I finished it with the help of my teammates and mentors. Thank you all for cheering me on! I'm in the process of creating more exciting fundraisers to fullfill people's interests.

I just started running now every other day and can run almost 3 miles. Can't wait till 4.5 miles! Working up to the challenge. Thank you for the encouragement!
