WELCOME TO MY FUNDRAISING PAGE!
I am running my FIRST EVER MARATHON !!!
WHEN:March 18th 2018. Los Angeles.
WHY I AM DOING THIS
In June 2015, my cousin's son (John Clarke) was diagnosed with Leukemia and it has opened my eyes to the realities of living with Blood Cancers and the difficulties it can cause for simple everyday tasks.
His immediate family have shown magnificent strength during this time; navigating life between treatments and hospital visits and we have received the amazing news that his last treatment date is schedueld for November 2018!!
A custom that his hospital uphold is to give every child in the oncology unit one (1) single bead for EACH HOSPITAL VISIT or TREATMENT. Below is a picture of John wearing his beads (with still a year of treatment to go!!)
John and his family are fortunate enough to live in the UK where the cost of this healthcare is paid for by the NHS. Unfortunately that is not the case here in America.
WHO AM I TRAINING WITH?
I am running the Los Angeles Marathon in conjuction with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training. They are training a non-runner like me to run 26.2 miles!!!!
It takes more than one person to make up a team and that’s why I’m asking you to donate to my fundraising page. All proceeds will go towards the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) . I am raising funds to help find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients.
WHAT DOES YOUR DONATION DO?
Your donation will help fund treatments that save lives every day; like immunotherapies that use a person’s own immune system to kill cancer. You may not know it, but every single donation helps save a life with breakthrough therapies such as these.MY FUNDRAISING GOAL
A marathon is 26.2 miles, so my goal is to raise $100 per mile. 26.2 x $100= $2620.
This money goes toward finding cures and supporting families affected by Leukemia and Lymphoma.
Patients need these cures and they need your support.
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help get us all closer to a world without blood cancers.
Thank you!
