Dear Family and Friends, 

I ran my first half marathon at the Disneyland Half Marathon weekend last year.  As I was running the last two miles, I encountered a woman holding up a sign that caught my eye. The sign read, "Thank you Team in Training, because of you I lived to see you run." Tears started to roll down my face, as I remembered someone special.  She was my husband's mother, our childrens' grandmother and my mother in law...TERESITA MEDINA ABARY.  She fought her battle with MULTIPLE MYELOMA, like a warrior, for almost four years.  Almost three years after Teresita was diagnosed,  I gave birth to Brianna, and then immediately became pregnant with our youngest child, Teresita's only grandson. She requested that we name him after her father, Isaac.   Less than one month after Isaac's birth, Teresita had succombed to the ill effects of multiple myeloma.  Brianna and Isaac are now 3 years old and 2 years old, respectively, and only have pictures as reference of their grandmother, "Mama Tessie."  I still feel sad as I wish we had just a little bit more time with her...

I promised myself, that one day, I would join TEAM IN TRAINING  and help find a cure for blood cancers, like multiple myeloma.  Someday is today.  On October 18, 2015, I will be running my fifth half marathon (God willing), at the annual NIKE WOMENS HALF MARATHON event in San Francisco.  By participating as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) TNT, I am raising funds to help find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients.

My wish is that with your donation, others diagnosed with cancer, will be able to spend more time with those that they love. You may not know it, but every single donation helps save a life.
