Quick update everyone!
I have gotten more energy to get through the workouts and feel much better this week and will be continuing on to do the race. With that said, these next few days are focused on fundraising! All of the hard efforts I have pushed my body and mind to are because I have a goal to raise enough funds to find a cure for cancer. The team has raised well over $127,930 and need to do my part!
Go TEAM!
When it comes to health and training, its the one thing I know I put my head down for and work my ass off, no excuses. This season has been more challenging… a lot of adversity with travel and work becoming an equal priority, but now has taken crucial time away from training. My body has had many changes. [EDIT] I am going to be very vulnerable and let you in! What started off as post trauma, has rapidly increased to severe headaches, abdominal pain, lower back pain, clotting, bruising, low platelets, low oxygen and the list goes on. With different diagnosis', never has a season been this hard to overcome.
I am trying my best to stay positive, get through these next crucial weeks of training and praying my body can adjust. But no matter the obstacles I face during training… there is no comparison to the obstacles I have seen loved ones face during chemo or the obstacles my Grandma faced leading to her death. Those images are what I see when I'm feeling weak. I have told my coach that if I am the last person on the course because of these set backs, I will do it.
Welcome to my fundraising site!
In short, I lost my grandmother to cancer in late May. I can tell you the grieving process has not been an easy one. Racing continues to be a healing outlet for me, so it only makes sense to compete and fundraise again. Every race has been dedicated to specific people I have met who have moved me into action. I have joined the Team in Training campaign to compete in the Olympic Lavaman Waikoloa Triathlon on March 25th in memory of my grandmother and of course to KICK CANCER'S ASS! Anyone going through chemo or radiation would trade places with us in a second as we train, and we race and fight for them so no one has to hear those awful words again: "you have cancer". The fight starts HERE so we can end cancer FOREVER.
This race happens to land a day before my 30th birthday and I wouldn't want to celebrate it any other way then with you and raising money for a cure. With that said, race day only happens when the pledge is complete. I need all my Cancer Fighting Warriors to help make a contribution to reach this commitment and raise the amount set on this fundraising campaign by March 25.
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'lll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community serveices as well. Your donation will help fund treatments that save lives every day; like immunotherapies that use a person’s own immune system to kill cancer. You may not know it, but every single donation helps save a life with breakthrough therapies such as these.
Thank you!
XOXO Jeremiah (Jamie)
