Thank you for your help in giving Cancer a Swift Kick!!
A huge THANK YOU to all who came out last Saturday to the Bowling Over Cancer event and made it a wonderful success! Together, we raised almost $1,000.00 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! Special thank-you's go out to my Dad, who barraged everyone each week with emails (i think there might have even been some threats? lol), and assigned all the lanes at the event; to my mom who helped with check-in and tickets at the event, and encouraged me and kept me calm through all the stressful days and the event itself; to my volunteers who helped at the event; and to my co-worker who helped set up the event with the bowling alley, and helped send requests out for business donations. HUGE THANK YOU's to Donna Bickel @ My Fitness Studio, who so graciously donated gift certificates for the Raffle (go check out the RealRyder bikes...awesome!); Sprinkles Cupcakes, Scottsdale, for the yummy cupcake donations; Gary @ the Gluten Free Country Store, who donated a huge gift basket for the Raffle (which was almost fought over!)...we are keeping you and your Dad in our thoughts and prayers, Gary! Thank you to co-workers and family members who also donated to the Raffle, and everyone else that helped out and donated their time...I could NOT have done this without ALL of you!
Stay tuned for more events...I still have a little way to go to meet my fundraising goal so that I can run the PF Chang's Half Marathon in January for my honored hero's, Aunt Dee and Uncle Rich! I will NEVER stop the fight against cancer. Let's all honor those whom we've lost, encourage those fighting cancer now, and celebrate ALL of our lives every single day!

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in the Tinkerbell 1/2 Marathon event in January, 2013 as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
As many of you know, cancer has touched my life profoundly...I've watched several family members and friends battle this horrible disease. This year, I am dedicating this 1/2 Marathon to 3 of the biggest heros in my life; My Uncle Rich and my Aunt Dee, who have both had really tough battles with Leukemia (and won!), and my Mom, who recently went through a battle with Lung Cancer. Although not a "blood cancer", she went through several rounds of chemotherapy, which was originally developed for Leukemia patients, and saved her life! (Bart Rutkowski, I also pray for you every day, especially on training runs/walks! You CAN do this!) I don't ever want to see another family member or friend go through this battle, and I'm dedicated to doing whatever I can to help eridicate this dease someday.
Cancer does not fight fairly, so neither will I...help me kick Cancer's butt!! Trust me, running a 1/2 Marathon is no easy feet (yes, spelling/pun intended!), but it is a cake walk compared to what these patients have to endure. 13.1 miles, here I come!
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
