RACING TO SAVE LIVES
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Welcome to our ZGK Riders fundraising home page. We are raising money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society ("LLS") as cyclists in its Team In Training program. LLS is the leading non-profit organization funding blood cancer research and helping patients and their families. We invite you to support us as we train to bicycle 100 arduous miles through the mountains around Lake Tahoe on June 2, 2013. Our goal in completing this ride is to raise at least $33,000.00 to fund anti-cancer research and provide critical services to patients and their families. We would love your support.
BACKGROUND
A little over a year ago, one of our law partners at Zwillinger Greek & Knecht PC told us about a wonderful way to help raise money for heroic individuals fighting leukemia and lymphoma. The way to do it was to train through Team in Training for the purpose of riding a bicycle 100 Miles around Lake Tahoe in the “World’s Most Beautiful Ride”. Gary's first thought was “why not do something we’re more likely to achieve – let’s become astronauts”.
Well, we formed a team in the office and with some colleagues and friends from outside the office, spent 4 months training on bicycles up and down hills for hours at a time. The unthinkable became doable and we all reached our goal last June 3rd -- 100 miles around Lake Tahoe and out to Truckee, California and back.
More importantly, we raised over $22,500 to support LLS' life saving work. In 2012 alone, LLS invested $ 73.5 million in blood cancer research, including grants to cutting edge research teams here in Arizona. In 2012, LLS provided Arizona cancer patients with over $1 million in financial assistance to help with things like co-pays, deductibles, transportation to and from treatment, and housing while in treatment. LLS, and the tens of thousands of cancer patients and research scientists it benefits each year, need and deserve our support.
So we are back again with our bikes and a team made up of 6 lawyers from our office (Jamie Burgess, Felecia Rotellini, Gary Zwillinger, Jack Dearing, Sara Witthoft and Andrew Breavington) and a few others from outside the office (Andy Conlin, Paula Williams and Stephanie Mullins). The team name is “ZGK Riders”, named after our law firm, Zwillinger Greek & Knecht PC.
PLEASE HELP US FIGHT CANCER AND ASSIST PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES
We would love your support. The money you donate will fund anti-cancer research and provide much-needed patient services. The advances LLS is funding are pretty spectacular. Building on amazing technologies that took decades of LLS funding to develop, LLS is helping to make and further discoveries that will provide every blood cancer patient with safe and effective therapy. The funds you contribute will support healing therapies once thought impossible. Simply put, we are closer than ever to the cures for many kinds of blood cancers. We are on the brink of historic breakthroughs that will literally change people’s lives.
If we can help in any little way, which we definitely can, we feel privileged to do so.
Each ZGK Riders team member committed to raise to contribute or raise at least $3,600.00, and hopefully much more. We choose to raise money collectively as a team – one for all and all for one! So, your help in this endeavor is very important. Our goal is to get as many donors involved in giving, so, obviously donate what you want, but if you would please consider contributing at least $50.00, your donation would help us reach our goal of raising $33,000 for LLS.
We’ll keep you apprised with our training as we go forward. We’ll be sending pictures of us training, so if spandex on lawyers is detrimental to your system, avert your eyes. Just know that as we climb these hills and feel the tiredness in our legs, knowing that we are helping people with these illnesses through your generous help, we’ll keep pushing to the top.
Also, please tell us your personal stories relating to folks in your lives that have fought cancer. We dedicate each training ride to a courageous person who is battling or has won, or sadly, lost their battle with cancer. It would be an honor to ride for you or any of your friends and family.
There are three ways to make a donation. You can make a secure, on-line donation by clicking on the link to the right. (It's really easy).
Second, you can send a check made payable to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in care of us at Zwillinger Greek & Knecht PC, 2425 E. Camelback Road, Suite 600, Phoenix, AZ 85016
Third, you can simply contact one of us below and we will follow up with you for our pledge.
We are thankful we have this opportunity and hope you’ll join with us as we push up the hill. Whatever amount you can give will be put to excellent use. All of it will be tax-deductible, and all of it will help in the fight against cancer.
Thank you for considering this request. We really appreciate your support and generosity.
Sincerely,
The ZGK Riders
