Hello,

Welcome to my Team In Training home page. I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of my daughter, Mary Kathryn. She is 21 years old and was diagnosed on January 21, 2010 with Burkitt's Lymphoma. This is a rare and aggressive lymphoma and can completely duplicate in 14 hours. Currently, there are only approximately 300 cases in the U.S. per year. Mary Kathryn spent four long months in the hospital and received 22 units of donor blood/platelets this year. The treatment was very extensive and extremely painful. On July 29, 2010 she was told she is now CANCER-FREE! She will be closely monitored for reoccurance over the next five years. I am also participating for all individuals who are battling cancer. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

For those that know me, I am not a runner nor really a walker. As I am out walking now, I look up at the sky and feel God's presence. We are grateful and we are blessed. I also walk and shed tears over the journey that Mary Kathryn and others like her are enduring or have endured. I will probably post comments on this site with thoughts or memories of Mary Kathryn's journey.

My goal is to complete 13 miles in a half marathon. Your consideration of making a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission is greatly appreciated. I will move forward, step by step, to reach the goal. Please join me in helping to find a CURE!
