Racing to Save Lives
JO HAS RUN A TOTAL OF 300 TRAINING MILES SO FAR
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
In October, I will participate in the Nike Women's Marathon. I will run the full marathon (26.2 miles). I have never taken on a greater challenge. I am working with Team in Training to prepare myself for this event.
I have just recommited to Team in Training to participate in the Nike Women's Marathon on October 18th - that means I am in it for the long haul! I hope that all of you will support me.
Today (August 15th), I ran 17 miles! That's my longest run EVER! I am so excited and feel great! I can not begin to tell you how hard it is - but each week gets a little easier and the soreness lasts for a shorter period of time after each run. My body is transforming into an athlete and I am so proud.
