Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page!

First Timer!

This is my first time ever running for this sort of distance. 26.2 miles...step-by-step...all completely worth it to support a great cause.

The Reason

One of my good friends recently lost his son, Grant (pictured above), to a terrible, rapid-spreading cancer just last month. He was barely 7 months old. I believe those of us who know Grant's story are called to action--we must do something to honor his memory and his life, and help finally bring an end to cancer. As a humble start, I've decided to run a marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. But that's only the beginning.

Building Positive Results from Heart-Wrenching Tragedy

All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. For this event, I have pledged a minimum of $1,800 in donations to help cure cancer. Also, you may not know it (I sure didn't), but research from the LLS has contributed to most if not all of the current treatments for all kinds of cancers, not just the blood cancers listed above. That's GREAT NEWS!

How You Can Help

I am completing this event in memory of Grant Edward Aug. I will also run in honor of all individuals who are battling, or have ever battled, cancers of any kind. Many in my own family, for example, my sister-in-law, Amy, are cancer survivors. These people--our family, friends, neighbors and co-workers--are the real heroes on my team. Besides the monetary goal, I pledge to wear a small purple ribbon for each of these honored teammates during the marathon race. I am humbled to run not only for cancer survivors, but also for all the babies who never got the chance to know what running feels like.

What we need: simply put, your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

So, if you can, please make a small (or large) donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. If you'd like, please feel free to include the name of someone in your life who's been touched by cancer in any way, and I will add a purple ribbon to wear on my jersey during the race in their honor. If you send me their name, I will post it below.

I hope you will visit my web site often...spread the word!

Thank you so much for your support! :)

~Chris
