Make Strides Towards The Cures

Dear Friends,

Welcome to my Hike For Discovery home page.

I am raising funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) as a

participant in their Hike For Discovery program and I'm asking you to help by making a donation to my fundraising campaign.

As a veterinarian, I have a special interest in oncology. Over the years, I have had numerous cancer patients with lymphoma, myeloma, and leukemia and find treating them among my most rewarding veterinary experiences. I am very grateful that in veterinary medicine we are able to give owners and their beloved pets more quality time together.

Unfortunately, research dollars are not as readily available in

veterinary medicine. Much of what we know is extrapolated from human research studies. We use many of the same drugs and modalities as in human medicine. Pictured with me is Ketcher, a patient of mine at Uxbridge Animal Hospital, currently undergoing chemotherapy for treatment of Intestinal Small Cell Lymphoma. Animals like Ketcher will benefit from this research.

As a member of the Tufts Veterinary Community I will be thinking of Dr Howard Levine on my hike. I will be walking to earn dollars for human cancer research, to improve the care for human cancer patients as well as our companion animals to whom I have dedicated my life. Every new discovery in cancer research will help enhance the lives of all. Your donation will be far reaching in human medicine as well as veterinary medicine. Each donation helps accelerate finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. More than 823,000 Americans are battling these blood cancers. I am hoping that my participation in Hike For Discovery will help bring them hope and support.
