I'm going to run a marathon!!
and help raise money to save lives.
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to run the Mardi Gras marathon in New Orleans next February as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of everyone who is battling blood cancer. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
AND NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT WHAT REALLY MATTERS HERE: I AM GETTING MY BUTT OUT OF BED AT 6AM TO TRAIN FOR THIS!! You probably know what an enooooooooooooormous feat that is for me, and how much it illustrates my commitment. Please support me with a donation, please make it all worthwhile!!
PLEASE make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission! Every little bit counts - please donate!! And spread the word!
Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your
support!
love,love,love,
Erica
PS I really appreciate those people who have given me cash in person also, even though I have no way to add them to the thank you list on the right. Where it says Erica Goldman as a donor it really means those people! Thank you to: Joe Bock, Israel Yakovee, Galit Bernstein, and Faigy Avnon. Also, some checks that haven't been processed yet mean I have raised even more than it says. Thanks to Harel Asaraf and Elaine and Gary Massion. I've actually raised 4316.95... and counting!
I HAVE SURPASSED MY FUNDRAISING MINIMUM!!
You are all amazing, thank you so much! Now... a few more miles to go...
Update 1.2.10 - Ok, now we're getting crazy. Saturday at practice I ran 14 MILES!! FOURTEEN!! That's more than a half-marathon!! I am happy with my pace (finished in 2 hrs 25 min) and extremely proud of myself... but don't forget, so much of my being able to do this is the support and encouragement I'm getting from all of YOU! Thank you!
Update 11/28/09 - I RAN A RACE!!! I did my first race, the Santa Monica Gobble Wobble. I ran the 10K and set my personal goal at coming in under 65 minutes... and I finished in 59:59! The first two miles were KILLER because of the slow steady incline, but the rest was lovely. Yayyyyyyyyyyyy!
